The William & Mary Invitational is hosted by the College of William & Mary at the Eastern States Hospital grounds in Williamsburg, Virginia. The meet has a rich tradition of attracting the most talented athletes and teams in Virginia and neighboring states. The high school course has evolved over time and has at times been recorded as a distance shorter than 5k. The grounds are generally very flat and therefore the meet has been known at times to produce some of the fastest 5k times of the season.
