Charas Heurich, Smithsburg MD (1980-1997) was a senior at Smithsburg High School when she was tragically killed in a car accident just days after she helped her team win the 1A state cross country championship. She was also a contributor to Smithsburg's state championship in track the previous year and was expected to lead the team again as a senior.
